DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) works to end the homelessness of vulnerable people, particularly those living with serious mental or addictive illness. Through an integrated array of comprehensive service, treatment, and housing, we give people the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
As an extension of the BOMA Day of Caring service project, RESTORx DKI, STERLING GROUP DKI and Texcare joined together in the volunteer cleanup of the shelter’s smoking room. We performed a Structure Clean of the Smoking room to remove smoke and nicotine from the walls, ceiling, tables, chairs, windows and floors after years of cigarette smoking in the smoking room. RESTORx DKI brought gloves, materials, equipment and chemicals for the project, as well as a Hydroxyl generator to help with the odor.
DESC provided lunch for all of the crew and Don Rupp, DESC’s Assistant Volunteer & In Kind Gifts Officer joined our crew in the cleaning! There was so much accomplished in the 6 hours it took to finish the job!
