On Saturday, Oct. 24th , BOMA (Building Owners & Managers Association) had it’s first annual work day for DESC (Downtown Emergency Services Center).  14 very large, very demanding projects were accomplished!  Buildings got a fresh coat of paint, areas in need of cleaning got scrubbed down, a new boiler was installed and repairs and replacements were done.  RESTORx DKI sent a crew (Lora, Christina, Travis, Randy, Connie and Jody) to clean the smoking room at the shelter which had major build up of smoke residue throughout due to years of perpetual cigarette smoking.  Since RESTORx DKI is in the business of cleaning up smoke and water damaged facilities, we immediately decided to help out for this worthy project.  The room is about 12 x 12 with 12’ ceilings and our crew of 6 people gave it a deep cleaning in 5 hours prepping it to be painted the following day.

DESC serves disabled and vulnerable homeless adults, and is one of the largest multiservice centers for homeless adults in the Pacific Northwest.  Their program of permanent supportive housing, clinical services and emergency services and overnight shelter provide a continuum of care that helps people to survive and to break the cycle of homelessness.  To learn more about DESC, you can visit their website at http://www.desc.org/.
